We have an alternative (no kill) humane society, and they had a little siamese mix whose owner had to go to a nursing home.
I named her Xica (pronounced Sheekah) after a character in a Portugese movie.
2 cats that will play together are a riot.
Otis is now 10, and has been a diabetic for 8 years. I give him insulin shots twice a day. He doesn't know there is anything wrong with him.
He is developing cataracts as a result of the disease, but can still indulge in his favorite activities, eating, bird watching, and tormenting Brandy.
Xica is about 9, and a bit shy. She steers pretty clear of the dogs. She enjoys sleeping in sunny places, knocking books off of shelves in the night, and leaving hairballs for me to step on barefoot. She drools when she purrs. And she sheds huge amounts of hair.
Otis, beloved of us all, passed a way this year. His diabetic conditon, though long controled by careful care and much love, finally overcame this wonderful little friend. We miss him.
