Christmas AT Foxbriar

Wednesday dawned gray and cold. Fox logged on the computer and went to his site at Planet Direct. When he checked the weather, it said "Cloudy, cold, with chance of snow".

This worried he little dogs, so they went to the air line's page and checked the flights. The one from Wanderings was running on schedule, at least for the time being!

The day seemed to drag by. Everyone kept watching the windows and looking up at the sky to see if the clouds were passing. They weren't!

Around lunch time, Pepper did something bad. She jumped the fence and ran up the street to see if any air port cars might be coming.

Nobody noticed that she was gone, and she was only gone for a minute, but while she was on the sidewalk, she heard something that upset her very much.

She ran straight home to tell the others all about what she had heard.

Pepper cleared the gate just in time for Fox to see her. He was very angry and shook her by her scruff. Pepper twisted away and gave Fox an angry growl, telling him to leave her alone! Then she told him what she had heard.

It was very bad news. The neighbor up the street had been sick. His family was getting ready to leave to take him to the hospital for a threatment. Pepper didn't know what kind of treatment, but she had also heard the mother say that it would be a very sad Christmas. There was no money for gifts for the little child or the family dog!

"Bummer!!" said 'Roo. "What can we do?"

Fox sped into the house and logged on his computer. He went straight to the North Pole site to send an email to Santa. He was sure Santa could help. But, after waiting and waiting for the site to down load he got a 404 error! Address not found!! Netscape couldn't find Santa! Oh, no! What could 5 little dogs do?

They talked and talked. They couldn't leave the neighbors to an unhappy Christmas! The little girl was always very nice to the little dogs when they were out walking with mom and dad. She always tickeled them under their chins and was very gentle when she petted them. The family dog always barked a nice "Hello!" when they passed. What could they do?
