Rescue or Breeder?

Pepper is a pet store puppy. Possibily sold to the store by a breeder who realized she would be over sized. I have been told that this is common in her breed. The breeder feels safe because Toy Fox Terriers are so cute and small that they sell at once. Luckily for Pepper, she was sold to a store managed by someone who does care about the animals he keeps. But, none the less, we believe that sold to anyone else, Pepper would have ended at a shelter, or worse. She ripped paper from walls, tore up carpet, and chewed wood work. Many people, unfamiliar with Fox Terriers, would not allow that type of behavior. She would have been beaten or sent away. We did not allow that behavior, either, but, being experienced terrier owners, did not find either option necessary. Contrary to the opinion of many, terriers can be trained. Some of Pepper's activity was due to being "hyper". I believe this was caused by Demodex and poor diet. The demodex was treated and the diet was improved. She calmed down and now is a typical, mischeivous, curious, friendly, loving terrier.

The Fox, however, is from a breeder. He was very well socialized, calm, loving, friendly, happy-go-lucky little dog.

Due to the different situations that these little dogs came from, I wish to present you with this page on the issue
