HOME AT LAST

We drove a long way in a car until we came to a house with a fence. Mom & Dad got me out of the car and took me in the house. I had to "go", but was so excited when they took me into the big back yard that I forgot. When we went back into the house, I found a nice place in a little hall way. Mom was NOT amused! They put water and some of the awful dry food down and but my bed in a wicker basket. Then we settled down to watch TV. I took turns sitting on Mom and Dad laps.

When bed time came, they put a gate up and left me in the room with my bed. I was not too happy, so I cried a little then jumped up on a stool and curled up to sleep. In the morning, Mom told Dad that she didn't like my sleeping there. Dad said it would be OK. Later that morning they left. I was so lonely I jumped the gate and searched the house. I found a white rug that looked like a good place to "go", so I did. I ate a little and took a nap on the sofa.

I woke up when Mom picked me up off the sofa. I was so happy to see her. I kissed her and she hugged me. She put my harness on me and we went in the car. I was afraid. I got sick. But Mom didn't leave me. She took me to see some very nice people. She said they were my vets.

They looked me over and gave me some pretty good stuff to drink. Mom was to give me some more in a week. They said I was a "keeper".

That night was much like the one before and the next day was too. Mom found me on the sofa again and told Dad that I was part jackrabbit. I was 7 inches tall and weighed 5 lbs and could jump a 45 inch gate. They said I needed a crate.

We went to the store and they bought me a crate. Mom & Dad put it together and sat it in the bedroom. I was happy to be sleeping near my Mom & Dad.
