(Photos by The Fox)
This is Tidbit, a male Toy Fox Terrier, rescued by Mom and her friend, Nancy. This photo was taken on Labor Day, just 2 days after he went to live with my human relatives.
Tidbit had allergies that were left untreated. One was to corn. He had been on a corn based food all his little life. He isn't even 2 yet. He also seems to have some other allergies, seasonal ones, and his vet is going to be checking for those so he can get better.
Tidbit's other home wasn't a REALLY bad one, even though Mom thinks he may have been kicked, because he is very fearful of feet that get too close to him.
But, he was so sick that he couldn't run around and play like other dogs. He didn't even know how to play! While he was at Nancy's house, he was fed good food, like we get, and it didn't have corn in it. Slowly, day after day Tidbit began to get stronger and to feel more like running and playing. Now he chases balls and has lots of fun toys to play with.
His baby teeth hadn't even come out! They are comming out now, and the vet expects his big teeth to come in soon. His toenails had been infected and then healed over. They looked like they had never been trimed. Poor little Tidbit. It wasn't that they didn't like him, we think, just that they didn't know enough or, maybe care enough, to think about his health. That has changed, now!
All the sores that he had when he was rescued have healed and there is fur coming back on his face. His ears will take a long time to completely get better and may never have fur on them again.
We are very fond of Tidbit, and he is very happy now, living with our neice and nephews. One of our nephews is treaching him "sit" and "down". Tidbit has his own bed, but sleeps in the big bed with his mom and dad. He has family who love him and care about his well being and he gets walks every day, plays with his toys, guards his family and NEVER is fed anything with corn.
